FIFA 23: WHAT IS THE POTM?

In football, as in everything else, there are those who are worse, better and the best. Each month, the one who is the best of the best is chosen from among several of the best footballers of the given rounds. Such an all-star footballer then becomes the Player Of The Month (POTM), and ends up as a playable card in the game.

But how exactly is a Player Of The Month chosen? How does such a POTM differ from the basic version of the card? How do you get a particular Player Of The Month in FIFA 23? Read on, and you'll be sure to find out all about it.

HOW DOES POTM WORK?

The Player Of The Month (POTM) is an award that's given to the best players in various leagues around the world, and in the FIFA game series it's no different.

At the beginning of each month, in given leagues (i.e. Premier League, Bundesliga, Serie A, La Liga, Ligue 1, Eredivisie), several of the best players from the previous month are nominated for a special award for Player Of The Month and the winner is partially chosen by the FIFA community. Voting takes place on the EA Sports website at this link here: FIFA 23 Vote for Player Of The Month. Such a winner is then added to the FIFA Ultimate Team game in the form of a limited-time Squad Building Challenge (SBC), with boosted stats and a unique card design.

LOOKING AT THE LATEST WINNERS

At the time of writing this article, we already know most of the league winners and a few candidates who have not yet been selected. So let's take a look at how it looks in the English, Spanish, Italian, French, German and Dutch leagues:

As reported by @FutSheriff, in the Premier League the winner has been announced as Marcus Rashford (Manchester United), whose SBC will certainly not be one of the cheapest. His basic card is decent, but the upgraded one with the added style of a hunter or engine could strike fear in the eyes of your rivals.

Another Sheriff's leak is the winner of La Liga, where Federico Valverde (Real Madrid) has been announced. It has to be said that the Uruguayan is on a roll, as he made it to the 1st Team Of The Week in FIFA 23 and now gets the accolade of POTM. Hands fold themselves in applause, but his price in the SBC will certainly not be celebrated so loudly. After all, quality costs money, and in this case it will certainly be no different.

Sheriff's latest leak, for the moment, is the Serie A winner that is Kim Min Jae (Napoli). The Korean is somewhat of a surprise, as many FIFA players expected it to be Theo Hernández (AC Milan) who would join the ranks of POTM in FIFA 23. Well, it remains to throw in the old saying that what goes around, comes around.

According to @fleck_gfx, the winner of POTM from Ligue 1 will be none other than Neymar (PSG) - oh, it's going to be a blast! Not only is the golden version of the Brazilian above average, but the above stats (if confirmed of course) say one thing - Weekend League, I'm coming! Not one player's budget will be ruined, but for a card like this, it's going to be worth it.

As you can see on the 2 tweets above, @FUTxGG has published all the candidates for the winners of the Player Of The Month from the Bundesliga and Eredivisie who have not yet been selected. We're putting our money on Gikiewicz (FC Augsburg) and Gakpo (PSV), how about you?

HOW TO GET THE POTM CARDS?

So as you can see from the examples above, POTMs can bring a lot to the game and change the course of more than one FUT Champions. With cards such as POTM Neymar, you can gain enough of an edge to win in most of the matches that you play.

But how do you acquire such cards? To do so, you will need to complete an SBC for a particular POTM. This task is made easier by the Futbin website, where you will find ready examples of squads that you need to burn through to get a given special card. The above POTMs haven’t yet made it into the game, so if you don't already know how the SBC works, then take a peek at possible squad ideas for getting Di Maria's latest special card at this link here: OTW Di Maria SBC

As a rule, the better SBCs require burning through several to a dozen squads with specific requirements, so it won't be cheap altogether. However, by previewing the cheapest solutions at Futbin and investing your FUT Coins in such cards, then you can save a lot. That’s why don't miss out on taking a peek at our offers in the shop, as you're likely to find exactly what you need for the game, i.e. FIFA 23 Coins.
