HOW CROSS-PLAY WORKS IN EA FC 24?
So far, console and PC gamers had to settle for playing in their own playground, as up until FIFA 22, the cross-play function wasn't supported. Thankfully just like in the case of FIFA 23, in EA FC 24 we'll be able to enjoy all the features that comes along with the play between different platforms.
What gets impacted by the cross-play? What players can or can't do with that option enabled? And of course, what should be kept in mind when using cross-play? We discuss below in detail all the news and changes that this feature will bring to the table, so make sure to read on.
WHAT IS THIS WHOLE CROSS-PLAY ABOUT?
Cross-play is supposed to allow players to compete against others on different platforms of the same generation in many, but not all, online modes. The cross-play feature benefits the owners of same-generation platforms, who can be divided into 2 groups. The first will include everyone playing EA FC 24 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Stadia. While the second group will include those who own the PS4 and Xbox One versions of EA FC. The cross-play feature is available from the first day of the game's release for the following modes (with that said, it's worth remembering that cross-play will not support the cooperative mode in Ultimate Team):
Any potential updates, changes and fixes to the cross-play feature in EA FC 24 are supposed to be announced on Twitter on the @EAFIFADirect channel.
WHAT HAPPENS TO THE TRANSFER MARKET?
EA Sports FC 24 players will end up in mixed groups for the transfer market in UT and will be paired in pools.
For example, when you list a card on the Xbox platform, another player on the PlayStation platform will be able to see it and bid or buy it.
Except for platforms such as PC and Nintendo Switch, where the transfer markets will remain separate.
To simplify things, we have put together another chart for you showing which platforms will have a common market and which will not:
WHAT WILL THE RANKINGS LOOK LIKE?
The introduction of cross-play feature to UT 24 will also affect the ranking system.
- Division Rivals ranking
The "Elite Top 200" table also has its global version, which can be accessed only if the cross-play feature remains enabled in the game settings. It will also be possible to switch between the global table and the local table, i.e. the rankings for a particular platform. The same rules will apply for club rankings.
- Squad Battles ranking
The "Top 200 Squad Battles" ranking will no longer take place in UT 24, as it has been removed, and from now on there will be one award level.
-Global rankings
Are only visible with cross-play enabled) will include the following platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Stadia.
- Local rankings
Are divided into the following groups:
Group I - PS4, PS5
Group II - Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S
Group III - Stadia
Group IV - PC
HOW TO ENABLE OR DISABLE CROSS-PLAY?
The latest cross-play feature will be enabled by default for all EA Sports FC 24 players who boot up the game for the first time.
However, there will also be an in-game option to disable that feature. To disable or enable cross-play in EA FC 24, you'll need to go to settings, network features and matchmaking settings, respectively.
In general, we recommend leaving the cross-play feature enabled, because EA states that:
"Players who opt-out of cross-play could potentially take longer to find an opponent when matchmaking, as opting out of cross-play naturally reduces the amount of potential opponents that could be found. Opting into cross-play will ensure that matchmaking will look for the largest pool of potential opponents possible".
With that said, it's important to note that for Xbox consoles, cross-play will only be enabled in EA FC if your current console settings allow it.
