FIFA 23: PREDICTING THE HIGHEST RATED PLAYERS
Like every year, just before the release of a new edition of the popular football video game, the media and FUT fans are buzzing and overthrowing the web with their predictions about players, their ratings, transfers, etc. That's why we decided to follow this trend and present our list with the highest rated players that you will be able to play this September!
Which cards are worth taking a shot at? What were they like a year ago? And above all, how will they look in FIFA 23? We answer these and other questions below.
WHAT DO THE RATINGS DEPEND ON?
EA used to assign a high overall rating to players who are "hot" on the market, popular or simply well-deserved (e.g. Mbappe, CR7). With that said, it's important to remember that the overall rating, which ranges from 1 to 99, is not an average of all attributes, but rather a conventional number that EA grants based on their data. The Canadians have a special network of scouts responsible for evaluating players in terms of more than 30 attributes that determine a given player's skill level.
In the past, there were cases when players with a lower overall were better than those with a higher one (for example, in FIFA 22, Vinicius Jr. was second to none despite a relatively low rating of 80). To get an idea of a particular football player, you should first look at his attributes. The six main ones are pace, shooting, passing, dribbling, defending and physicality.
Every summer, EA announces ratings for top players ahead of a new FIFA release. So we are in a period when hype is felt everywhere, from FUT players who want to plan their teams well, to soccer enthusiasts who want to learn what the best players in the FIFA universe are.
WHAT WAS IT LIKE IN FIFA 22?
Before we share our predictions, we'll take a moment to remind which football players received the highest ratings at the start of FIFA 22 - which may prove useful in further speculations.
On top was the famous Lionel Messi, who received a rating of 93, exactly the same as in FIFA 21. In the case of Argentinian, only the club has changed. Second place was achieved by Robert Lewandowski with a rating of 92, who recorded a very successful season. Further down the list were players with a rating of 91, i.e. Cristiano Ronaldo, Mbappe, Neymar, De Bruyne and Oblak. Among the top ten were also Harry Kane, N'Golo Kante and Manuel Neuer, who all received an overall of 90. In addition to this last year's bunch, EA also included players with a rating of 89, and listed them all in an article titled "TOP PLAYERS IN FIFA 22". In addition to players with the highest rating, EA also announced the best in terms of speed, passing, dribbling and other categories (which makes it all the more compelling to recognize the attributes of the cards, rather than just their overall rating).

So what ratings will the top football players receive this year? We expect that many of them may be relegated, and Lionel Messi will no longer stand at the top of the chart. Instead, we anticipate that it will be Mbappe who will take the top spot. At the same time, we have also heard that some fans would like to see Karim Benzema there, which may not be surprising given the Frenchman's achievements this year, but we doubt that EA will decide to do so. Other players who are likely to remain in the 90+ range may include Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland, Harry Kane and Neymar Jr. As for the rest of the players and their ratings, predicting seems to be more difficult. That's why, based on leaks and our own feelings, we've made the following table of the 10 highest rated players in FIFA 23:
Additionally, keep in mind that the above ranking is based primarily on our predictions, and the final player ratings will be published before the release of FIFA 23. In the case of FIFA 22, the ratings were released on September 13, 2021, just three weeks before the game went on sale. Therefore, we expect this year's player ratings to be released in the first half of September 2022.
HOW TO GET THE HIGHEST RATED?
Above we have listed quite a few famous football players, and with their cards, playing FIFA 23 can be satisfying and enjoyable. The mentioned players can give you an edge against your rivals and make it easier to get started in the game, especially in Ultimate Team mode. However, in FUT 23 they won't be easy to get nor cheap (especially during the first few months).
Unless you're the lucky one to land such players in packs or on the market, you can forget about playing them in the early stages of the game.
