FIFA 23: WHAT'S NEW COMING TO THIS YEAR'S FIFA?

FIFA is something more than just a massively popular Ultimate Team mode. Every year, EA tries to enrich other modes, which (let's not kid ourselves) are necessary to have a break from the intense rivalries in FUT.

What will it look like this time around in FIFA 23? What new features await us in the game, and what is already known about it? Our crew has tried to find answers to these questions, and we welcome you to keep reading!

WHAT'S NEW IN CAREER MODE?

We have high hopes for new and interesting changes in the Career mode. In FIFA 22 it was simply disappointing - at least for those who have played the previous games. Apart from a few changes, everything remained pretty much the same... Of course, the game allowed you to create your own club and turn it from an unknown franchise into a regular Champions League winner. However, that was already possible in FIFA 13! Then it disappeared and came back a year ago, apparently as an "update"... Therefore, we appeal to EA for the bigger flair in terms of new features and changes for that mode.

According to recent Twitter leaks, a new feature called "Stadium Builder & Editor" is known about at the moment. It is supposed to allow players to edit scoreboards, stadium capacities, colors, as well as contracting various sponsors and apparently much more. Sounds good, but we want more! Maybe EA will listen to our begging and Career Mode might shine with a new vibe in FIFA 23.

WORLD CUP IN FIFA 23?

EA has officially announced that FIFA 23 will be the last game in the series, while EA Sports FC will take over in the summer of 2023 (a result of a disagreement between the EA company and FIFA organization). As part of this announcement, EA confirmed that FIFA 23 will feature World Cup content. On that note, the following words came out of their Canadian's mouths:

"We are committed to making the next FIFA our best game ever, with more features, game modes, World Cup content, clubs, leagues and players than any previous FIFA title."

In our opinion (but probably not just ours), the comeback of World Cup mode will be music to the ears of many FIFA fans, especially since the mode has proven to be a great way to spice up Ultimate Team content in the past.

VIRTUAL CLUBS MODE IS SUPPOSED TO GET BETTER!

There will also be changes to the Virtual Clubs mode, where you and your friends can go wild together (supposedly). Information on this is still very limited, but some new features are sure to come this year as well.

The announced changes regarding online gameplay (i.e. confirmed cross-play to be available on next-gen consoles PS5, Xbox Series X|S, as well as PC and Stadia) should also appear in Virtual Clubs mode.

Of course, it would make more sense to be able to play across all platforms without exception. However, let's remember that the matter relates to EA and most likely it's a business/marketing move to push as many players as possible to buy new consoles. That is why we will not forget about players using older platforms and will offer FIFA Coins for all of them. Nevertheless, we believe that any form of cross-play added to Virtual Clubs as well as other modes in the next FIFA will be a plus.

LICENSING IN FIFA 23: MEANING WHO WILL BE BACK AND OUT THIS TIME?

In terms of licensing, the latest news has it that Mexico's BBVA MX league and Japan's JLeague Premier League will be exclusive to Konami. Things regarding Serie A will not look too interesting either. According to recent rumors, SSC Napoli and AC Milan will probably not be included in FIFA 23 in terms of licensing, and it is unknown at this point what their equivalents will be called.

However, there is good news for Juve fans as it is claimed that the Old Lady will return to FIFA as a licensed club this year - which could be as a result of the expiring deal between Juventus and eFootball. One thing is for sure, with the above moves, Italian football will find itself in a strange place again where some greats leave and others return.

Still, the best news is that the players will remain in the game officially and under their real names, as EA has renewed their contract with FIFPro.
