FIFA 23 WORLD CUP DLC - PRIOR-RELEASE GUIDE
The FIFA World Cup in Qatar is the clear example of how much 2022 is out of the box, and it will be no different with FIFA Ultimate Team 23. World Cup DLC will be coming very soon to the game, which will give the chance to play this tournament against other players or AI. World Cup mode will be playable in a separate FIFA 23 mode, while new content will be added to Ultimate Team as with every promo. EA has already confirmed that by the end of the year, FUT 23 players will receive a sizable dose of new cards, objectives, rewards and surprises that will be related to the upcoming World Cup! FUT 23 WILL EXPLODE DURING THE WORLD CUP! WHAT WILL COME TO THE GAME?
New World Cup content is coming soon, but what exactly is it? Below, we list point by point everything that is already known about it:
1. FUT HEROES, ICONS AND OTW
FUT Heroes will be part of the FUT World Cup and will receive new, upgraded versions of their cards to replace the current ones in the packs. EA Sports has already revealed the upgraded Heroes as part of their partnership with Marvel, which was shared on the popular @FIFAUTeam profile.
Also, World Cup Icons have been announced. For now, it's unclear what exactly those cards will be, but according to leaks, 35 special World Cup Icons should be coming to the game. Several of them will most likely be obtainable through Icon Swaps.
In addition, during the World Cup, Ones To Watch cards will be transformed into Nations To Watch cards. Thus, these cards will have a potential to receive a one-time upgrade if their national team wins a min. 1 match at the World Cup in Qatar (the players themselves don't have to play or even be in the starting 11 in a given match to receive an upgrade).
2. NEW CARD TYPES
After the release of the World Cup DLC, in FUT 23, we'll be able to find cards that will be time-limited for the period of the tournament and those that won't't be affected much by the hourglass. According to @Fut_scoreboard, the types of promotional cards will be as many as 11 (World Cup Player Item, World Cup Icon, World Cup Path To Glory, World Cup Star, World Cup Swap Token, World Cup Hero, World Cup Team Of The Tournament, Road To World Cup, World Cup Stories, World Cup Phenoms, World Cup Showdown) and will be obtainable through packs, SBCs, Swaps or objectives.
The mechanics of cards such as World Cup Path To Glory, World Cup Star and World Cup Team Of The Tournament are actually easy to predict thanks to the familiar RTTF, POTM or TOTW designs. Whereas, cards such as World Cup Stories and World Cup Phenoms are still shrouded in mystery.
3. TASKS AND REWARDS
According to leakers, including @FUT23News we will get World Cup Swaps, various SBCs and themed objectives to complete to get mighty cards!
In addition, EA has also announced the so-called WC End of Event Rewards. In the main menu of FUT, you will be able to track the number of World Cup cards you have collected (the ones with the clock icon at the bottom of the card) over the course of the event (duplicates will also be counted in this number). There will be 10 reward thresholds to go through as you collect more cards - the more timed cards you earn, the better rewards you'll pick up at the end of the World Cup!
The End of Event Rewards will be available to be collected from January 4th, and at the same time the cards with a clock icon will stop being accounted for and will be removed from the clubs.
